55 Inspirational Career Quotes With Heart

March 25, 2021 by Wendy Toth

I gathered these inspirational career quotes from some of my favorite thinkers to motivate and support you in digging deep. Your career is much more than a series of jobs. It’s a relationship—the relationship you have with the work you do.

Like any long-term relationship, your career can bring you satisfaction and joy, but not without its ups and downs. What’s important is that you keep doing work that brings you those sparks of satisfaction, especially after the down days. You must find pockets of inspiration to get you motivated again when you lose a client, miss a deadline, or butt heads with your boss.

Career success is about the process of growing into the best version of yourself. It’s not easy, but it is so worth it.

I hope these career quotes help you figure out your next right step, whether that’s making a plan to ask for the flexibility and pay you deserve, reading more books on positive psychology, or just finding a way to participate in a more meaningful project. Here’s to a long and happy career.

Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor, the enemy of the people. It will keep you cramped and insane your whole life, and it is the main obstacle between you and a shitty first draft. I think perfectionism is based on the obsessive belief that if you run carefully enough, hitting each stepping-stone just right, you won’t have to die. The truth is that you will die anyway and that a lot of people who aren’t even looking at their feet are going to do a whole lot better than you, and have a lot more fun while they’re doing it.

Anne Lamott
